Rev. Roland Hearn

RolandWeberBenchmarkRoland Hearn is the District Superintendent for the Australian North and West District of the church of the Nazarene. Prior to accepting this assignment Roland was the Registrar and Dean of Students at Nazarene Theological College -Brisbane. He has pastored four churches across more than thirty years, from rural Queensland to the burgeoning metropolis of Dallas, Texas. In two of those churches he was the planting pastor.

Roland was raised in a Christian home but at age 20 was involved in a fatal car accident as the driver. The accident resulted in the deaths of his girlfriend and her sister. The experience created a crisis of faith and several years of a lifestyle focused on his pain. His return to faith and ultimately to ministry was accompanied by a profound desire to understand the healing and transformational nature of grace. This desire led to a fascination, and later academic study, of the nature of love and shame within a Wesley theological construct. Roland believes that love - vulnerable, self-giving, valuing love – holds all that is necessary for healing, restoration of the human spirit, and the living of the life of holiness. He has a commitment to seeing the restoration of such a focus impacting the church in Australia.

Roland has been married for 32 years to Emmy and has four remarkable children, Kaylah (26), Jonathan (25), Braden (23) and Tylah (21). Emmy is the Church and Pastoral Relations coordinator for the district and brings many years of experience in management and training to this role. Together it is their deepest desire to create a district unified in vision and committed to transformational love and the living out of its mandate to value others both in the church and in the community.
